OUR BROADCASTING DIRECTION IN TERMS OF AI-MUSIC
As a station, KIWIRADIO is becoming increasingly selective about AI-generated music submissions.
We respect technology as a tool, and we are not opposed to AI-assisted workflows in production, editing, or creative experimentation. However, our focus will continue to prioritise human performance, songwriting, musicianship, and recorded expression.
When reviewing submissions, we consider the overall artistic identity behind a project:
✔ live performance presence
✔ evidence of real musicianship
✔ originality of artistic voice
✔ visual presentation and authenticity (photos and music videos)
Projects heavily reliant on AI-generated imagery, video, or synthetic music production may be deprioritized in our radio programming and promotional reach.
Recorded music has always carried imperfections, nuance, atmosphere, and individuality. Those qualities matter to us. We like the cable hum, the not so in-pocket rhythm section, the slightly off-key singing.
As trained audio engineers and broadcasters, we pay close attention to production quality, and sonic artifacts that are tell tail signs of AI.
We encourage artists to collaborate, form bands, work with session musicians, producers, engineers, filmmakers, and creatives, and continue contributing to the New Zealand creative ecosystem.
Our programming direction is simply a conscious choice about what we want to amplify.
